BT launches new directory assistance service
British Telecoms (BT) is to launch a new directory service to compete with Yell in the UK. Yell was to have been floated recently, but had to postpone due to difficult market conditions.
BT, which sold Yell last year to pay off some of its debt, will receive a new 118500 number, replacing its old 192 number.
Irish directory assistance operator which runs the 11850 service in the Republic also announced that it received a new 11 88 99 number in May.
According to reports from the Irish Independent, Conduit has said that it welcomes the competition from both BT and Yell.
