EasyJet chief hails merger
EasyJet chief executive Ray Webster declared the “real work” starts today, as he formally completed the £374m (€596m) takeover of rival budget carrier Go.
Mr Webster said a great deal had been done since the acquisition was announced in May, including sorting out the top two tiers of management.
However his to-do list included making a decision on whether the head office will be at Stansted or Luton, and planning next summer’s schedule – which will be the first where the Go brand disappears.
He said the deal completion today was symbolic for the two companies.
“It is pretty symbolic for easyJet and Go because from now on we start to enact all our plans,” he told PA News.
“The real work starts today. Yes, I’m pleased but I also recognise that we have now got to deliver,” he said.
The merger creates Europe’s largest no-frills airline, operating from three of London’s four airports.
