Irish companies increase exports by 7%

Irish companies increased exports by nearly 7% last year, according to the findings of the Annual report from Enterprise Ireland published today.

The increase in exports equates to almost €11bn and comes despite the fact that World Trade fell by 4%. Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Ireland, Dan Flinter, says Irish companies are investing wisely to ensure a bright future.

"I think this year markets will remain tough but one thing that is encouraging is that Irish companies have crossed a critical threshold.

"They are continuing to invest in research and development and are continuing to invest in international marketing. That is the only way we can continue to hang on to market share."
