Wireless market in Europe slows down

A recent study has revealed that there is a decline in subscriber numbers in the European wireless market, forcing operators to focus on new and innovative applications.

The study shows that most European operators experienced a decline in the number subscribers due to saturation and many still have largely pre-paid customer bases.

As a result, operators will be more likely to focus on Multi Media Messaging Services (MMS) and GPRS, although heavy marketing is needed to inform consumers of new products.

The focus will have to change from voice enabled mobile services to a data enabled service.

The survey was conducted by IDC, a global intelligence and advisory firm.
