Sun Microsystems has reported a 10% rise in earnings for Q4 ended June 30, 2002.

Sun Microsystems has reported a 10% rise in earnings for Q4 ended June 30, 2002.

The company revenues went up from $3.1bn the previous quarter to $3.4bn.

Net income for the period was $28m or 1 cent a share.

The company however, incurred charges of around $8m for the quarter, as a result of losses on equity investments and restructuring charges credits as well as tax related benefits.

Sun reported a net loss of 8 cents per share for the 2002 fiscal year.

The company's president and CEO Scott McNealy said: "We stated a goal of reporting a profit for this quarter and we achieved that goal.

"I'm immensely proud of my team. They have integrity. They have talent. They have tenacity."

Sun Microsystems has its Strategic Software Development Centre in Dublin. It employs around 200 people there.
