IONA wins award

Web integration firm IONA (NASDAQ: IONA) has been honoured by IT content syndicator Bitpipe as two of its employees won the Best Software White Paper for 2002.

IONA chief consulting architect David Frankel and principal writer John Parodi were recognised for their paper: "Using Model-Driven Architecture to Develop Web Services."

Chosen from more than 400 overall entries, IONA's white paper won the first place award in the software category for its technical vision and communication skills.

The winning paper describes how the principles of the Object Management Group's Model Driven Architecture can be used to develop Web services in a way that improves programmer productivity and avoids rapid obsolescence of the services.

MDA uses the Unified Modeling Language to capture and express the essence of information and services.
