Hewlett-Packard to cut 1,400 UK jobs
Hewlett-Packard plans to cut 1,400 jobs in the UK.
The cuts include 450 full-time posts and 180 contractors at the former Compaq plant at Erskine near Glasgow.
A further 950 full-time posts are to go elsewhere in the UK, including from it sales and marketing division.
The company would not comment on union claims that the cuts are a direct result of its merger with Compaq.
But it did announce earlier this week that it planned to reduce its European workforce by about 5,900.
