Cambpells announce Erin purchase

The Campbells food company has announced the purchase of Erin Foods from Greencore for €27m.

The acquisition includes a factory in Thurles, Co Tipperary, which employs 170 people.

Agreement has also been reached on the sale of the McDonnells dry soup and sauces business and factory in Drogheda, Co Louth, which employs 25 people.

A spokesperson for Campbells said it is too early to say if the acquisitions will lead to job losses.
