MyTravel appoints Ryanair exec to head new low fares airline

MyTravel Group PLC said it has appointed Tim Jeans as managing director of its low fares airline, which is scheduled to be launched later this year.

He joins from Ryanair PLC where he was sales and marketing director and is expected to take up his role before the winter season commences.

"The low fares business is still in its infancy and there are still huge opportunities for new entrants," Jeans said in a statement today.

Group chief executive Tim Byrne said the group's strategy is to continue to develop MyTravel into a globally recognised brand.

"To do this, we need to be constantly innovating and introducing new products. Demand continues to grow for a more flexible approach to air travel to leisure resorts, which is why we are setting up our own low fares airline," he said.
