Dollar falls against euro

The dollar fell against both the euro and yen today after US retail sales for May came in sharply lower than expected.

The dollar had given up more than a quarter of a cent versus the euro trading near the session's highs around 94.40 cents.

The dollar has also slipped about a quarter of a yen against Japan's currency.

"We expect retail sales to continue to slow throughout the year," said Ms Lara Rhame, US economist at Brown Brothers Harriman.
