P&O tanker drivers balloted over industrial action

British P&O tanker drivers are to be balloted over industrial action.

The 400 drivers, all members of the British Transport and General Workers' Union (TGWU), work for P&O Trans European, and deliver oil and petrol on the Shell contract.

They have rejected a pay offer of 2.5%.

TGWU national secretary for transport Ron Webb said: "This company knows the value of our members but won't recognise it in adecent pay increase. Shell also know the value of our drivers and we know the profits they have been making.

"These drivers are the backbone of Britain. They have been undervalued for the dangerous but vital work they do for too long."
