ExxonMobil wants Greenpeace blockade to end

ExxonMobil has asked the French courts to order members of Greenpeace to evacuate an oil refinery they have blockaded.

Approximately 60 Greenpeace activists have used cars with deflated tyres to block roads leading to the refinery, near the Atlantic port of Le Havre.

The blockade is part of a "week of action" against the US oil giant.

Refinery manager Jean-Yves Le Meur said: "A company like ours does not have the means to confront a quasi-military attack."
