O2 has launched its Mobile Web service, providing full Internet access and email for work and play.

O2 has launched its Mobile Web service, providing full Internet access and email for work and play.

Customers will be able to access the same web sites that they currently use at work or on home PC's.

Mobile Web is up to five times faster than a standard mobile (GSM) service and can be accessed through a Microsoft Windows powered Laptop or Handheld PC/PDA used with a GPRS mobile phone.

The UK business of mmO2 plc is branded O2, replacing the former company name of BT Cellnet Ltd.

O2 has 11 million customers (end December 2001), a GSM network covering over 99% of the population and approximately 86% of the UK by land area, and comprises over 7,500 base stations.
