Businesses call for dedicated traffic corps

Businesses are calling for a dedicated traffic corps to be established immediately for Dublin.

Employer’s body, IBEC, says although many solutions to Dublin’s traffic problems are long term, this is something that can be done straight away.

Regional Director, Matt Moran, believes it would help alleviate congestion.

Mr Moran said: "Everyone concedes that Dublin’s traffic problems are long term and will only be solved by huge investment in infrastructure and public transport.

"The Dublin Executive of IBEC recommended the establishment of a dedicated traffic corps for Dublin three years ago.

He added: "If this recommendation had been acted upon at the time I doubt if the congestion, which faces Dublin commuters every day would be as bad as it is now."
