Microsoft quiet on ITV Digital bid reports
Microsoft is refusing to comment on reports that it is considering launching a rescue bid for ITV Digital.
According to The Observer, Microsoft is one of several firms trying to assemble a consortium to buy the broadcaster.
The company has already taken stakes in UK cable firms, NTL and Telewest.
ITV Digital's administrators, Deloitte & Touche, announced on Friday that 60 potential buyers are interested in acquiring all or part of the company.
Deloitte & Touche have enough cash to keep the company going until early next week. That has ensured coverage of the Football League play-offs is going ahead as planned this weekend.
If, however, a buyer does not come forward in the next few days, ITV Digital is likely to be broken up and its assets sold off.
Other reports in the Sunday press suggest Granada and Carlton are to reopen talks for a £5bn (€8bn) merger.
