Truckers protest over insurance costs

Lorry drivers are holding a blockade in Dublin city centre this morning in protest at spiralling insurance costs.

Up to 20 trucks are parked on Molesworth St, outside the offices of the Irish Insurance Federation.

However, the members of the Irish Road Haulage Association have stressed that the aim of the protest is not to cause disruption to the public.

IRHA president Gerry McMahon said they want to highlight the number of haulage firms going to the wall because of exorbitant insurance demands.
