Footsie dips despite Wall St rally

The FTSE 100 Index is off 28.4 points at 5787.7 despite a 57 point gain on the Dow Jones Industrial Average in the US overnight.

Wall Street was cheered by the Federal Reserve's decision to keep the cost of borrowing at a 40-year low last night and its confidence in an economic recovery.
