Enterasys Networks launches security routers

Enterasys Networks [NYSE: ETS] has unveiled a new suite of products that combine routing and wide area connectivity with secure Firewall and VPN capabilities.

The new X-Pedition Security Router 1800 series products (XSR-1800 series), is aimed at the SME/branch office environment.

It represents a major departure in terms of traditional routing technology and reflects a large shift in the edge-connection market which is now being driven by ease of management and security. With this new product development, Enterasys is competing with giants like Cisco Networks.

Although Enterasys is an American company, it employs 150 people at its European technical support and financial services in Shannon. A large portion of the manufacturing of these new products will be done at the Flextronic plant in Limerick.
