Parthus license new speech technology

Irish mobile technology provider Parthus [Nasdaq: PRTH, LSE: PRH] has licensed speech and handwriting recognition technologies from ART Advanced Recognition Technologies.

Parthus has chosen ART's smARTspeak NG, simpliWrite and smARTwriter recognition technologies for Parthus's InfoStream platform.

smARTspeak NG's speech recognition features include voice-enabled name dialing, continuous digit dialing, menu navigation and device control.

simpliWrite and smARTwriter recognize the handwriting of a user without the need for unique symbols or user training.

The recognition technologies are to be integrated into the InfoStream platform and will then be available to Parthus's customers.

Parthus' strategy is to engage in licensing and royalty agreements with leading semiconductor and electronic product companies.

In 2001, Parthus completed 25 new licensing agreements against a target range of 12 to 20 per year.

Licensing revenue grew by 85% year-on-year shifting the total revenue mix towards higher margin licensing revenue which accounted for 72% of total revenue in 2001.
