JLS and Caldera form partnership

Caldera International, a provider of UNIX-based products, and JLS Technology, an independent Irish IT services provider, have partnered to provide Linux-based solutions to the Irish market.

The companies believe that their offering will provide a cost-effective alternative to Microsoft products.

As a reseller of the Caldera Linux-based applications, JLS Technology will offer its customers email, web, proxy and file and print solutions.

JLS said it will provide its customers with a cost-effective infrastructure solution and pointed to the current economic climate as one of the reasons that IT managers are looking at areas where they can reduce costs.

Richard Perkins, UK manager for Caldera International said, "JLS was impressed how easily Caldera's Linux software can be integrated with organisations' existing infrastructure.

"For example, Caldera's email server, Volution Messaging Server, can be used as the back office mail server to front-end clients such as Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express.

"This utilises the power and stability of Linux whilst also reducing overall licensing and ownership costs of the mail system."

JLS Technology currently employs over 80 staff at its offices in Dublin, Belfast and at service points throughout the country.
