Massana launches first semiconductor products

Massana, an Irish semiconductor company that designs and develops specialised silicon chips for the broadband digital communications market, has launched its first family of semiconductor products under its Everest brand name.

This announcement makes Massana the first Irish company to develop and market its own-brand semiconductors.

It marks a major milestone for the company which transformed early last year from an IP and design services company to designing and marketing its own-brand semiconductor chips.

"We are now delivering on our promise of providing semiconductor products that offer lightning-fast bandwidth," said Paul Costigan, CEO of Massana.

"Our proprietary methodologies and unique architecture have enabled us to surpass the competition in the areas of flexibility, power consumption and reliability, and we intend to increase that advantage by expanding further our existing mixed signal design group in Dublin."

Massana's new product family is specifically aimed at improving performance in local area networks [LANs] through high-quality, high-speed gigabit Ethernet connectivity over existing copper cabling.

Massana has also announced that it has opened a new direct sales office in Taipei, Taiwan, and have signed distribution agreements in Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea and mainland Europe.
