EC 'can't justify' aid to Welsh Ford plant

The European Commission today began investigating the legality of £17.4m (€28.5m) in government subsidies earmarked for a Ford plant in South Wales.

The European Commission today began investigating the legality of £17.4m (€28.5m) in government subsidies earmarked for a Ford plant in South Wales.

The commission said its investigation so far ‘‘has not been able to establish that the planned aid meets the criteria’’ for state aid to the motor industry.
