The FTSE 100 Index was down 30.7 points at 5159 at mid-morning, wiping out the gains made on Friday.

Cable & Wireless is the heaviest faller, down 12p at 257½p, on fears over trading in one of its key divisions. Vodafone is down 3½p at 150¾p; and mmO2 is ½p lighter at 77p.
