Lionbridge Ireland wins Microsoft contract
Lionbridge Technologies [Nasdaq:LIOX] has announced that its Ireland-based team has secured a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract with the Digital Media Division [DMD] and Windows Update divisions of Microsoft.
Localisation company Lionbridge employs around 150 people in Co Dublin.
Under the agreement, Lionbridge will be the main provider of localisation services for the complete DMD product line managed from Microsoft Ireland and localised for up to 18 languages.
With this partnership, Lionbridge will also localise the content requirement for the Windows Update Web site into 24 languages.
The contract is one of several between Lionbridge and various entities at Microsoft.
Lionbridge reported its Q4 results which showed a slight decline in revenues from Q4, 2000.
For the year ended 31st December, 2001 the company reported total revenue of $101.2m (€117m), compared to revenues of $115.1m (€133m) for the year ended December 31, 2000.
However, the company expected that for 2002 revenues would grow by 20-25%. It had a net loss of $24.5m (€28.3m) for the year, slightly improved on 2000.
