US company to supply Air Corps with new helicopters

A US firm has won the biggest military contract in the history of the Irish State.

The Government today awarded the €57m contract to Sikorsky Helicopters.

The company will supply three medium-range helicopters to the Air Corps to be used primarily for search and rescue missions.

The Air Corps also has an option to purchase two more helicopters for transporting personnel.
