The Euro Changeover Board has confirmed it will investigate reports that some pubs and retailers are refusing to accept punts.

The confirmation came at a Dublin news conference in the board’s headquarters this afternoon.

Businesses are supposed to continue accepting the punt during the 40 days of dual circulation.

The Director of Consumer Affairs has been informed of a number of cases where members of the public were told their punts would not be accepted.

If businesses refuse to accept cash the public is being advised to shop elsewhere.
