Duisenberg urges UK, Sweden, Denmark to join euro
European Central Bank president Wim Duisenberg urged the UK, Sweden, and Denmark to join the euro, and said the introduction of the currency would quicken EU political integration.
Speaking at a news conference just one day before the euro notes and coins are officially introduced, Duisenberg gave a clear indication he wants the remaining three EU members who are not part of monetary union to adopt the currency.
