London shares close near session lows

Blue chips ended the day near session lows, as a profits warning from US networking firm Juniper Networks and the state of emergency in Argentina impacted sentiment on both sides of the Atlantic, dealers said.

The FTSE 100 index closed down 40.4 points at 5080.2, just above a session low of 5080.1, having risen by 30.4 points in early trade this morning.
