Xbox production under way in Europe
Microsoft has revealed that Xbox production is under way in Europe.
The announcement was made at a press conference at a factory in Sarvar, Hungary.
The facility belongs to Microsoft's manufacturing partner Flextronics.
The factory will begin by producing consoles for the North American market, in tandem with Flextronics' sister site in Guadalajara, Mexico.
It is expected to switch to the manufacture of European specification machines just before the Europe-wide launch of Xbox on March 14, 2002.
Flextronics says the facility will be able to produce more than 15,000 consoles a day.
