NTT DoCoMo admits 3G handset glitch
NTT DoCoMo has announced it is to recall 1,500 3G handsets.
It has discovered a problem with its N2002 phone causing settings and data to be erased when browsing certain websites.
The phone works on FOMA - the world's first third generation network.
The high-speed offering - which was launched in Tokyo in October - allows video-on-demand on top of standard voice services.
Owners of faulty handsets have been told they will be able to exchange the phone for a new one from the beginning of next month.
It is not the first time the company has experienced handset problems.
FOMA's commercial launch was delayed after glitches forced the recall of 1,400 trialists' phones.
