Telecoms billing provider Sepro, has announced the loss of 17 jobs out of a total workforce of 50 people.

Sepro provides rating and billing solutions to the telecoms and e-business industries.

The job losses are across the board in the company's Dublin office and include the marketing manger and the chief technology officer, as well as staff in administration and direct services.

The CEO, Declan Ganter said on Friday that the company is focusing on the burgeoning niche for rating solutions within telecoms applications software and in addition is continuing with Sepro's telecoms billing solution.

Rating software implements complex tariff, pricing, customer and target market-related rate cards and monitors their effectiveness and utilisation.

Sepro has a marketing presence in the US, in Washington area where a number of telecom companies have their headquarters.

While the American market is still quite strong, and the company has had three large customers in the US, 70% of its customers come from Northern Europe, in particular from Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands.
