Stena Line to lose 150 of it's Irish workforce
Stena Line has announced that it’s cutting almost 150 jobs at ports in Co Wexford and in the North.
The company has claimed the changes will offer its passengers a better mix of services, facilities and travel options but the reality is almost 150 jobs will go because of the changes.
50 jobs will be lost at Rosslare Europe Port, Wexford next March when the company introduces a new ship on the route.
A statement issued by the Stena Line confirmed that it is considering withdrawing the Stena Galloway on the Belfast Stranraer route with the loss of 92 jobs.
Stena Line is also considering relocating operations in Belfast and a Stranraer spokesperson said job losses are necessary to make the company profitable before 2003.
