Sabena axes Belfast flights

Sabena is scrapping two of its three daily Belfast-Brussels flights.

The airline had been due to halt all flights on the Belfast route at the end of this month.

But its financial crisis persuaded the airline to drop two of the three flights ahead of time.

Sabena is also ending some other flights early - including Brussels' services to Tokyo, Beirut and Verona in Italy.

Meanwhile, Sabena is trying to sort out a financial package that will keep it in business.

A spokesman would not comment on reports that Virgin Express and American Airlines were among those interested in taking over some of Sabena's operations.
