Former subsidiary takes over Swissair's European services

Swissair's former subsidiary Crossair is taking over Swissair's services to 24 European destinations from today.

Crossair will take over Swissair's routes from Zurich to cities including London and Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris and Rome.

It will also take over Swissair's service from Geneva to London and between Geneva and Zurich.

Services from Zurich to Manchester and some East Euiropean destinations will be taken over tomorrow.

All of Swissair's flights have been suspended since yesterday afternoon, after the airline filed for bankruptcy protection on Monday.

Swiss banks UBS and Credit Suisse paid out £109m for Swissair's 70% stake in Crossair yesterday.

But the money arrived too late, and operations were suspended.
