UK building society benefits from borrowing spree

Mortgage lending at Britannia Building Society has soared as customers take advantage of new products and lower interest rates, the mutual said today.

Total mortgage lending doubled in the six months to June 30 to £1.8bn and Britannia said the borrowing spree had continued in recent weeks.
