Banking giant to recruit 1,000

Halifax and Bank of Scotland are to launch a massive expansion into business banking after their £30 billion merger takes effect tomorrow, it emerged today.

The banks will kick-off a recruitment drive for near to 1,000 staff as shares in the combined group HBoS begin trading for the first time.
