Central Bank says euro changeover won't stoke inflation

The Governor of the Central Bank, Maurice O'Connell, has said the changeover from punts to euros will only have a minimal effect on Ireland's inflation.

Mr O'Connell told the Oireachtas Committee on Finance and Public Service that there are obvious fears that retailers and traders will round up their prices during the euro changeover if they are not offered compensation for changeover costs.
