Windfall for Belfast after £1bn jet deal

Belfast has received a significant boost with an aircraft order worth well over £1bn.

Canadian Bombardier Aerospace has signed a deal with US Northwest Airlines to supply 75 regional jets worth around £1.2bn.

There is also an option for a further 175 aircraft.

The order is good news for the company’s Belfast plant, the former Short Bros, which makes parts for the jets.
