North's economy 'needs to speed up'

The North's economy is not performing strongly enough to deliver the growth and jobs needed in the next decade, according to a report published today.

The Pricewaterhouse report said political stability had meant the economy performed relatively well, but needed to speed up.

It added that the current annual growth rate of 2% needed to be exceeded if the North is to develop further.
