Eircom shareholders vote in favour of Vodaphone

Eircom shareholders have cleared the way today for the sale of the companies mobile hone business Eircell to Vodaphone.

Eircom shareholders have cleared the way today for the sale of the company's mobile phone business Eircell to Vodaphone.

The shareholders have cast £1.5bn votes in favour of the Eircell de-merger.

The deal is thought to be the largest ever in corporate history.
