Royal Dutch/Shell moots $1.5bn LNG plant in Argentina
Royal Dutch/Shell Group is considering investing $1.5bn in a liquefied natural gas plant in Argentine Tierra del Fuego.
The group has pre-selected seven countries, including Argentina, in which to build four such plants, according to reports.
The Argentine plant would also generate 100 MW of electricity per day.
Shell has begun talks on the project with Total Austral SA, which heads the consortium with the largest natural gas concession in Tierra del Fuego.
Royal Dutch/Shell is expected to decide by the end of this year whether siting a plant in Tierra del Fuego is viable.
