United announce record turnover
Manchester United had a record turnover of Stg£72m for the six-month period ending on January 31 of this year.
United’s soaring turnover was among the highlights when the club’s plc announced its interim results this morning.
The Stg£72m figure represented an increase of 13% on the Stg£64m turnover last year.
United made an impressive pre-tax profit of £17.3million against the £12.2million profit last year, a jump of 42%.
The results also show a record operating profit, before taking into account transfers of players, of £21.4million, against a figure of £18.6million last year.
United’s increased capacity at Old Trafford 67,700 this season against 55,300 last year meant gate receipts brought in Stg£28.4m, against Stg£21.4m last year.
And sponsorship income, boosted by the agreement with Vodafone and Platinum Sponsors, increased to Stg£11.1m, surpassing the Stg£8.8m mark in 2000.
