The FTSE-100 Index of leading stocks was up 44.7 points at 6254.6 by mid-morning, boosted by a strong bounce in the technology sector.

The FTSE-100 Index of leading stocks was up 44.7 points at 6254.6 by mid-morning, boosted by a strong bounce in the technology sector.

In the US overnight, both the Dow Jones industrial average and the NASDAQ shot ahead after IBM reported a climb in both sales and earnings which were ahead of expectations.
