JD Wetherspoon Dublin plans face fresh hurdle

A resident has lodged an appeal against Dublin City Council’s approval for British pub chain JD Wetherspoon’s plan for a new superpub on Camden Street; telling Bord Pleanála permission would represent “an unwelcome milestone”.

Resident Barry Chambers’ appeal is based on the high number of pubs already in the Camden Street/ Wexford Street area and said approval would be “an unwelcome milestone in the current trend to completely alcoholise Camden Street.”

JD Wetherspoon plans to build a €4m superpub comprising a 98-room hotel on the street.
