Graeme McDowell's Boyport Services sees total profits soar

Accumulated profits at the commercial firm owned by golfer Graeme McDowell soared to €12.7m last year.

Newly-filed accounts for the former Ryder Cup hero’s Boyport Services business show accumulated profits jumped from $2.45m to $14.3m (€12.7m) in 2015, despite the golfer’s on-course dip in form.

McDowell’s prize money from playing on the US PGA tour last year declined from $2m to just under $700,000.

However, the Irish golfer has invested wisely off the golf course and has opened two restaurants in Florida where he lives.

In early 2013, McDowell opened the upscale restaurant and sports bar, the Nona Blue Modern Tavern outside Lake Nona in Orlando.

Last month, he opened a second restaurant, also called Nona Blue in Ponte Vedra Beach in Florida just outside the gates of PGA tour headquarters.

During 2015, the cash pile at the Portrush man’s firm increased from $4.18m to $5.1m while its value of investments rose to to $7.2m.
