Intel plans to buy Movidius, a Dublin-based maker of computer chips used in vision applications, to expand its operations in computer-driven sensing and mapping, at a reported price of €322m.

The company was established in Dublin a decade ago by David Moloney and Seán Mitchell.

It subsequently opened its offices in San Mateo in California, in the heart of Silicon Valley, and last year established its first dedicated Chinese office in Shanghai.
