Boom time is back with two of the capital’s best-known hotels reporting a sharp increase in profits for last year.

New accounts filed for the firm that operates the five-star Fitzwilliam Hotel on St Stephen’s Green show that its pre-tax profits almost doubled to €4.2m. Revenues climbed by 12% at Ampleforth Ltd — the Fitzwilliam and Bailey pub owner — from €32.72m to €36.58m in 2015.

Accounts for Luxor Leisure Ltd which operates the four-star Radisson hotel off South Great George’s St, Dublin, show its pre-tax profits surged seven-fold to €5.5m in the 14 months to the end of October.
