The Shannon Group has initiated plans to develop a new flagship tourism attraction for the mid-west region.

The semi-state company, charged with delivering economic benefits for the west of Ireland, is seeking expressions of interest from firms to carry out a feasibility study into the development of a new tourism product.

The region is already home to some of the best known visitor attractions in the country, including the Cliffs of Moher and the Bunratty Castle and Folk Park.
