Enda must harness the goodwill of the EU for the good of Ireland

Taoiseach Enda Kenny is now a familiar, grinning face around Brussels. He has attended EU Council summits since 2011 and many of his counterparts have come and gone.

At 65, he is also among the eldest heads of State around the EU family table. He counts Germany’s Angela Merkel as a close ally, and retaining power after this year’s general election awarded him extra clout.
