Cork Chamber of Commerce has called for a “complete reform” of the Irish rental and housing sector as businesses fret over the chronic shortage of accommodation.

Research carried out by the business representative body found 90% of large companies consider the shortage of private rental accommodation to be the single biggest issue for their business.

Cork Chamber president Barrie O’Connell described the sector as the most neglected part of the housing market and called for the Government to afford it greater consideration given in the Government’s forthcoming housing action plan.
